May 2nd is the official day that Potter heads, like myself, revel in our obsession with a magical world of a boy who lived and a villain who must not be named. I took a moment to think back on the various ways I’ve enjoyed this series and I realized that my bar for a great book was set high by J.K. Rowling.

True to typical Wingate theme, the symbolism within the pages linger with me as I continue to find alternate meanings behind recurring symbols, like the innocent deer representing vulnerable Lilly, or the ravenous vultures depicting scavenging drug dealers.
I don’t usually think of mysteries with Christmas, but having humorous characters and situations almost made me forget about the unlikely combination. Like adding salt to cookies for extra flavor, chocolate to popcorn.
